Booboot is a delivery marketplace that connects people who need something delivered (requesters) with independent couriers. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who can see it, and the choices you have. It is written to follow Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).

1. Information we collect

Account details: your name, phone number and email address.

Identity checks: a photo of your identity card (IC) or other ID, and a profile photo, so we can verify that couriers and requesters are real people.

Courier details: vehicle registration, driving licence photo, vehicle details, bank account details and payment QR code, so requesters can pay you and we can process payouts.

Delivery details: pickup and drop-off addresses and map locations, item descriptions, prices, delivery photos, payment receipts, ratings and complaints.

Messages: chat messages, photos and voice notes you send inside a job's chat.

Location: while a courier is online or on a job, the app uses the phone's location to show nearby jobs and delivery progress. Requesters' locations are only used when they choose a pickup or drop-off point.

Device information: a notification token (so we can send you alerts) and basic device identifiers used to prevent fraud and duplicate accounts.

2. Why we use it

To create and run your account, match requesters with couriers, show delivery progress, and let both sides contact each other about a job.

To verify identities and keep the platform safe — for example to stop fake accounts, fraud and abuse, and to handle complaints and disputes.

To process subscriptions and payouts, and to keep financial records we are required to keep.

To send you notifications about your jobs, account and important changes.

3. Who can see your information

The other person on your job: a requester sees their courier's name, photo, vehicle and payment QR; a courier sees the requester's name, contact number and the job's addresses. This is only shared for jobs you are part of.

Booboot staff and partners (such as Chief Marketplace Officers (CMOs) and finance officers) who need it to verify accounts, resolve disputes or process payments. They are bound by confidentiality rules.

Service providers that run the app for us: Supabase (database and file storage), Netlify (website hosting) and OpenStreetMap (maps and address search). These may store data on servers outside Malaysia, under their own security protections.

Authorities, if we are required to by law.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal details (name, phone, email, photos, ID and bank details) are erased 7 days later.

Records of past jobs and payments are kept after deletion, with your name replaced by "Deleted user", because we need them for accounting, tax and dispute purposes.

5. Keeping it safe

Your information is stored with access controls so that each person can only see what they are allowed to. ID documents are only visible to you and to Booboot's verification staff. All connections to Booboot are encrypted.

6. Your choices and rights

You can view and update most of your details in your profile. Some changes (like your name or ID) need to be approved first.

You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent by contacting us. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide the service to you.

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete my account) or at app.booboot.asia/delete-account.

You can turn off location access and notifications in your phone's settings, but some features will stop working.

7. Children

Booboot is not meant for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. We'll show the new date at the top, and let you know in the app if the changes are important.
